L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand
Ate here again and loved it; I think it’s my fifth or sixth time. I like this place, period. The sweetbreads were delicious. The giant clam was fresh and visually interesting. You’ll have to take a small loan out to eat here, but it’s one of the best restaurants in Vegas. Plus, when you sit at the food bar, you can watch your meal being prepared with laboratory precision under the direction of a Frenchman. I’ll keep coming back.
BLT Burger at the Mirage
First time to BLT Burger, although I've eaten at a couple of his places in New York. I ordered the Blue Cheese burger with caramelized onion and sautéed mushrooms. No additional condiments unless we wanted to dress it ourselves. An unpickled cucumber came with it. The burger was cooked medium rare, as I requested and the bun fit the burger. Fat Tire was my beer choice and I was a happy guy. Two hand burger with just the right amount of medium rare meat patty juice running down your hands as you take each bite. Probably had to throw away my cloth napkin after the repeated usage.
Mon Ami Gabi at The Paris Hotel
Simple lunch of French Onion Soup and what amounted to a BLT on the patio looking out on Las Vegas Blvd and The Bellagio. I liked the soup more than the sandwich. The service was fine. Honestly, it's a great people watching perch on the patio. I think if I was sitting inside, I might have paid more attention to the food. I've eaten at Mon Ami probably six or eight times in all my travels to Vegas. Stick with the basics here.
