Back at The Grape Tray

On the heels of the Mastro Scheidt Harvest Party, The Grape Tray in Fresno is selling the 2009 Black Label Double Barrel Lencioni Vineyard and 2009 Harris-Kratka Vineyard designate Cabernet's. Both Vineyard Designates are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County.

Our Double Barrel Black Label Cabenet has been a favorite since the first release. Only a little over 50 cases per year are produced from small, single vineyards in Sonoma County. It's our relationship with grape growers that allows us to provide a high-quality, hand-made product, year after year to our customers. Lencioni Vineyards is in the Lytton Springs area, known for Ridge Vineyards. Wild blackberry flavors and soft, rich tannins in the mid-palate make the 2009 Double Barrel a wonderful wine with rich foods.

The 2009 Harris-Kratka Cabernet has been an early favorite for its easy drinking style and lower alcohol content. The vineyard ripens much later than other vineyards in Sonoma County and the sugars in the grapes gradually increase, rather than spiking up quickly. This allows for a greater development of flavor in the grapes. A perfect Cabernet for every day of the week and with a wide variety of foods.

The Grape Tray is located at 5091 North Fresno Street  Fresno, CA 93710 or (559) 226-6828 and ask for Stan.

Thanks again Stan for your support!

Camp 4 Wine Cafe is carrying Mastro Scheidt Wines

There's some history at the Camp 4 Wine Cafe in Modesto, just off Highway 99; both California history and Yosemite rock climbing history.

I spoke with the owner of Camp 4, Damon Robbins, for well over an hour on my first visit. We talked food, wine, travel, and climbing. We discussed Damon's passion not only for wine, but for cured meats, like Pata Negra or Jamón ibérico, the prized cured meat from Spain, something he's looking forwarded to carrying in the Cafe.

Camp 4 offers a large selection of wines and beers from all over the globe and only a few from California. They also specialize in panino sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie and fresh salads.  They are open for lunch Monday through Friday.

Many people have heard of Damon's father, Royal for two reasons, clothing and climbing.

Excerpted from the Camp 4 Website referencing the original Camp 4 in Yosemite Valley; "Camp 4, the climbers camp, is situated on the north side of the road just across from Yosemite Lodge. Camp 4 was our “home”, our refuge from the “world out there.”  We spent a lot of time in Camp 4, talking about literature, philosophy, girls, life in general, and of course, our next climb.  Camp 4 was a good place to eat, to live, to chat with friends, and to booze a little – a good gathering place." If you're a food, wine, cured meat, or climbing enthusiast, Camp 4 Wine Cafe in Modesto is a must stop on Highway 99 on your way to Yosemite National Park.

We agree with Damon and Royal, Camp 4 is a great place to eat, chat with friends, and booze a little. We're happy to have Mastro Scheidt Wines poured in such a fantastic wine cafe.
