Mastro Scheidt Carnevale Dinner

After two solid days of preparation, the entire Mastro Scheidt Family pulled off a private Carnevale dinner, celebrating the "end of meat" just before the Easter Season.

The private dinner included nine (9) courses for each of the 12 guests. Wines were paired with each course, including our favorite Chardonnay from Bacigalupi Vineyards and a wine from David's personal cellar, a 2002 Rafanelli Zinfandel.

Sourcing the ingredients, like Community Grains polenta, Marin Sun Farms pork belly, ox tails, bone marrow, and veal, not to mention all the cheeses (yes, you Emily, they loved the Red Hawk) and various mushrooms was great fun.

John ran the front of house the entire evening and took care of all the wine service. My father made his first ever chocolate mousse (he learned how to "fold" properly) and made sure my outside kitchen stayed busy, and my mother interacted with each of the guests from beginning to end. Additionally, friends of my parents helped expedite and clean during the entire service and were crucial to the evening. Many thanks to them.

Naturally, I'd like to thank our gracious hosts and each of the guests for their participation, enthusiasm, and healthy appetites.

Mastro Scheidt at Lela's Restaurant

Following up on our very successful cooperative wine event with Saviez Family Estates, Lela's Restaurant is listing our entire line-up of award winning bottlings for 2010; Mastro Scheidt Sonoma County Cabernet, Mastro Scheidt Double Barrel Cabernet Franc, and the Mastro Scheidt Blueprint. Our Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is available by-the-glass.

Chef Carr's menu is crafted as New American Cuisine, in the spirit of Charlie Palmer, capturing flavors that accent high-quality meats and produce. Chef Carr starts the lonely job of crafting every menu item from scratch each morning.

His reward? Interacting with his guests each night. We at Mastro Scheidt recommend going into Lela's, asking Randy which Mastro Scheidt wine will pair best with Chef Carr's cuisine, then sit back, relax, and share a brief moment with "Chef Manny", as many call him, and his classically American cuisine.

It has been a pleasure to work with Chef Manuel Carr and Manager, Randy Wenzel.

Mastro Scheidt Blueprint 2009 SOLD OUT

Well, only a few months after our debut release of Mastro Scheidt Blueprint 2009, we're sold out. The concept behind Blueprint was to build a better Cabernet. We used both American and French oak over 24 months, hillside fruit, and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. I learned a lot about barrel selection with this wine and received great customer feedback. Thanks to everyone.

As a result of the sellout of the 2009, our 2010 Mastro Scheidt Blueprint is available for sale online now. The 2010 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc, 100% hillside fruit, and aged in 100% French oak. We hope you enjoy the 2010 as much as the 2009.

Mastro Scheidt returns to Vino & Friends

It's with great pleasure that we announce the return of our Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon to Vino & Friends in Fresno, just in time for the holiday season.

As you may remember, our 2007 Sonoma County Cabernet was brought on by Vino & Friends upon its release with great success. We are, once again, looking forward to working with Chuck and Jen, as well as the entire staff at Vino.
